NGSchool2025: Sequencing Toolbox for Computational Biologists is the 7th edition of our flagship summer school series, organized to empower promising students and young scientists, in particular from the V4 and CEE regions. This year's focus is on sequencing technologies and their applications in computational biology, bioinformatics, and biomedicine.
Sequencing has fundamentally transformed our understanding of biological systems by enabling comprehensive analysis of genetic information. The advent of next-generation sequencing (NGS) and long-read sequencing technologies has allowed researchers to uncover genetic variations, structural rearrangements, and epigenetic modifications previously undetectable. These advancements are crucial for personalized medicine, agricultural sciences, and environmental studies. For instance, sequencing played a pivotal role in the rapid characterization of the COVID-19 virus, enabling the swift development of mRNA vaccines, and continues to aid in tracking and understanding emerging variants (Nature).
